A beautiful day at Keysborough for round 3 of the season.  We were up against Kew who had been struggling at the bottom of the ladder alongside us. We welcomed Gillian Emond to the team for the first time, hoping to break through for a win.  The team came through in style, with all seven players winning their matches.  Everyone played well, but particular mention must go to Sophie Crouch who notched a convincing first win for the season, 7&6, and Birgit Yandle who finished with a spectacular birdie to win her match 4&3.  The icing on the cake was to have all the players, caddies and supporters following Steffi Vogel down the 18th to see her notch win number 7 for the day.  Results as follows:

Steffi Vogel – won 1 up

Johanna Wyllie – won 3&2
Sophie Crouch – won 7&6
Alison McCaig – won 2&1
Lorinda Hartley – won 3&2

Birgit Yandle – won 4&3
Gillian Emond – won 3&2

Our next match is at The Heritage against Woodlands on Sunday 24th March starting at 8:50am.  Would be great to have some spectators!!

Round 3 was played at Centenary Park on Friday 15th March.  It started chilly but warmed up as the morning went on.  After going down in the first two rounds, we were keen to notch up a win against Kew and the team certainly delivered.  At the turn, we had five players up, but most matches were pretty close, many of them looking like they could go either way.  On the back nine, our players all stepped up and we managed to get six out of seven over the line.  Sue Tsindos the regular Team Manager scored a 5&4 win at no 7, Deb McCartney struck a player in red hot form to go down early and Carol Reid’s opponent pushed her to the 18th hole, but the other four all won on the 17th hole where there was much celebration as four players in a row shook hands.

Results as follows:

Carol Reid – won 1 up

Sonia Hartley – won 3&1
Robyn Galloway – won 3&1
Gillian Emond – won 3&1

Cathy King – won 2&1
Deb McCartney – lost 7&6
Sue Tsindos – won 5&4

A big thank you to all the players, caddies and supporters.  Our next match is against Woodlands at The National (Long Island) on Friday 22nd March starting at 8:50.  Would be great to see as many supporters as possible.
