Round 3 Team

            Luke Stait

            Matthew McCole (c)

            Aiden McDonagh

            Jacob Taberner

            Rory Gorman

            Jack Smith (Emergency)

Week 3 of the season saw the Colt’s playing against Cranbourne at Rosanna.

This was also the first hit out for 2 members of the Colt’s team, Aiden McDonagh and Rory Gorman, and they did not disappoint on debut. Aiden led out and quickly got to a 3 up lead after 3, and 4 up at the turn. He kept the pressure on and comfortably closed his opponent out for a 7 & 6 win. Similarly, Rory charged to an early lead, also 4 up at the turn and gave his opponent only 1 more hole than Aiden, winning 7 & 5.

At position 3, Jacob Taberner had a rare day off form and struggled to a 7 & 6 loss. Luke Stait, playing at number 1, also struggled with a very steady opponent, eventually succumbing 5 & 4. At number 2, Matt McCole is having a fair go at stealing Ian Poulter’s moniker as “The Postman” as he continues to deliver. He was steady all day, even at the turn before improving as the round wore on, as has been his approach so far this season. He eventually won 3 & 2 to cement a 3 & 2 win for the team. This now places us in 3rd position on the ladder.

Next week, we play Sanctuary Lakes at their home course so we will need to be on our toes.
